We
packed our picnic basket with all the food we love and headed to the
beach. The day was bright, sunny, beautiful. It was the perfect winter
day to take time to breath. To listen the sound of waves crashing on the
sand, feel the breeze and smell the sea.
We decided to take advantage of the nice-lovely weather and have lunch by
the sea. We needed a sweet relief after a long busy week, something to keep
our souls healthy and energized. A moment to think and relax.
There
is
something beyond wonderful about the crispy winter days here. Days
like these are always a good reason to leave the house for us.So we found a wonderful
place under a shady tree, spread our blanket upon the ground and plopped
down. After eating our focaccia sandwiches and 'mostly' all of our food! We just walked along the sea. We laughed of old memories and smiled
of new ones. And even though our food was simple, it was very satisfying!

NOW IN MY PICNIC FOOD BASKET I'VE GOT:
> Rosemary and Cherry Tomato Focaccia { using this dough recipe} sandwiches filled with Italian ham, pea shoots {or any green leaves} and tomatoes.
> A couple of salads with vegetables of the season with this vinaigrette
> Olives, feta cheese, pears and minted lemonade. Next time, I think I would make some rosemary infused lemonade too.
> And of course some Seasonal fruit too!
Hopefully you may be inspired too.Wishing you all a colorful week ahead!

ReplyDeleteI wish winter here looked like that! What a delicious picnic. The foccacia sandwich looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love picnics at the beach. It's usually pretty blustery here in winter, so we tend not to head down as often from June through August. But spring is just around the corner, and I'd love to take some sandwiches and salads in our picnic basket once the weather improves a bit. Lovely photos! Un beso.
